Bishop Greer Godsey<p>I was trying to replace the VVT solenoid in our GMC terrain and it broke off. We are now screwed. We have no money to take it somewhere and I have no idea how to get the broken solenoid out of the engine. Any ideas or help? Y⃒̸̷̝̜̙ͥͥͥngmar<p>Bingo. Found the right special snowflake bit in the former boat toolkit.</p><p>Sensor looks like new but is date stamped 2008. A little dust on the wire. Cleaned it and changed the air filter while I was in there.</p><p>Fault cleared but I didn't drive anywhere yet. We'll see!</p><p>Also found a hose that someone broke and spliced with a flow restricting insert. Very professional work. I'll see if I can find a replacement for that. It goes to a vacuum solenoid valve and from there to the turbo. AI6YR Ben<p>Fixed a backpack (which I used for bicycling) again. Apparently, there is a certain point of UV exposure where nylon starts breaking apart. Wonder if there's some way to treat it to halt that breakdown process. I also love fixing things myself. The local laws should allow this. Y⃒̸̷̝̜̙ͥͥͥngmar<p>Sauna chimney repair. Last winter I patched a crack with clay, but upon heating up, the crack opens up again every time. It's only a cosmetic issue, no leakage.</p><p>Someone told me to inject slaked lime in there (same stuff the chimney and the kitchen wall is limewashed with) but while it's hot and expanded.</p><p>So I tried that today. The needle blocked instantly, too fine, but I had some success squeezing it in with just the plastic nozzle. Gus<p>lol, I was gearing up to have a fight with Google's warranty people over the failed charge port on my 25 month old Pixel 6a phone... The slightest movement would cause the USB plug to fall out.</p><p>Port looked fine, even under magnification. Decided to gently dig around in there with a pin anyway, before going into corporate battle... Little by little an unbelievable quantity of tightly packed pocket lint came out...</p><p>Phone charges like new again now. 🤦‍♂️ </p><p><a href="https://aus.social/tags/repair" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>repair</span></a></p>

2xfo<p>My dad gave me the guts of a tube radio that he came to possess recently and he wants me to replace all the capacitors. Does anyone know a good resource for learning when what and how to replace? <br>Are oil filled caps special or is a thin film cap of the same capacity just as well? Do wax capacitors need special attention?
