Pottery by OsaVirginia is my homeland and I get to bring a little piece of it back to Florida with me. My parents had me while they were students at Virginia Tech, just 45 mins away from where the conference was held.As fun as it had been to access <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/clay" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#clay</a> so easily in the environment here, it’s only possible because about a foot of top soil has been lost to farming, deforestation, etc. Also, the labor of the enslaved is baked into each clay brick in the buildings on Hollins campus. Paar angesprochene Accounts machen inzwischen AltText, auch wenn manche länger gebraucht haben, es als selbstverständlich anzusehen. Das allgemein übliche Verhalten ist scheints oft die Richtschnur für viele. Dabei gilt es, dieses mitzugestalten.

Warum ich es hier dennoch tue, steht unten.Ein beliebter Account mit tausenden Followers und insofern mit einer gewissen Vorbildwirkung:Tritt Menschen mit Sehbehinderung bewusst mit Füßen. Ja, bewusst; der Mensch hinter dem Account ist ja mehrfach darauf hin gewiesen worden, über einen laaangen Zeitraum – und ich sehe weiterhin Null Interesse, da was zu ändern. Manchmal passiert sowas mal versehentlich, klar. Aber in dem Fall ist es anders, ich sehe das bei diesem Account (und auch anderen großen Accounts!) immer wieder.Hier: Gleich mal gar kein Text; dafür eine Handvoll Emojis, die in einem akustischem Screenreader der Reihe nach beschrieben würden und somit völlig nichtssagend werden. Und der Klassiker. Keinerlei Bildbeschreibung, obwohl in dem Bild nur (wenig!) Text steht. Wozu dann Bilder mit Text?! Der Text im Bild ist in englisch. Insofern lässt er sich auch nicht automatisch übersetzen.So richtig daneben; wirklich alles an diesem Post.Bitte übernehmt dieses Verhalten nicht. Es ist nicht witzig und ausschließend für die Betroffenen.
