If you could give another maker a gift for Christmas, what would it be?

A5: Is there a current trend for giving old bathroom extractor fans?
No? Oh!

OK, I would like to put together a small kit of old woodworking tools, moulding planes, chisels, saws, etc. to help someone get started in hand tool woodworking. It is all stuff I have in abundance. I could also throw in some woodworking books too.

I am also sure some makers would also love to have an old valve radio to play with, or some old film cameras. That could also be arranged. Any takers?

#MakersHour

What I'd gift depends on the maker because I'd give something useful and encouraging.

A friend who's a prop maker only ever wants stickers to put on her tool case. Just a small one. It would provide practice in marking out, cutting, planing, sanding, and applying a finish. It is one of those projects that can be all hand tools or all power tools depending on what the person wants to learn. Hammerhand Workshop
A4: I don't know if I have "usual materials", but someone starting out wanting to make cosplay armor would be well served by starting in paper and cardboard, then the cheapest craft foam available. If you've never turned flat stock into 3D shapes, those materials are great for learning.

#MakersHour @MakersHour

Hammerhand Workshop
A1: Next week I am hoping to move forward on my return to working on my R2D2. I need to cut a bunch of these shapes to make the layered shoulders, and I ruined the first 8 with one slip on the router table. I thought the hardest part would be cutting the master templates precisely, and it is tough, but the hardest part turns out to be not screwing up.

#MakersHour @makershour
