You know why we Germans are so pedantic about data protection? Someone around 90 years ago went through all records available, selected people with certain criteria, with the help of IBM, and then killed them all.
We don't want to be on any list.
And now the US Gov and Musk are trying to get access to all data they have about every person and put them into a big fat DB and run AI over it.
I am afraid what they will do with that.

@soulexpress Me looking nervously onto the vote that will happen on Sunday which will get a Nazi party to maybe 20% and the CDU (the merkel party) having a racist old dude running it atm and might become the winner 
@bitboxer @soulexpress the CDU/CSU will become a Tories 2.0 in their next term, I ask myself where their voters will go now that Merz destroyed the „Brandmauer“.
@soulexpress @bitboxer yeah naw I think that would be nice if it was true and it's a common sentiment about Germany, however a lot of it is more of a facade. Things are really not looking good politically at the moment.
Yes there is Erinnerungskultur and de-Nazification, however fascist structures were never fully uprooted, and there is a growing resentment to the narrative of having to learn from and be accountable for what the Nazis did. And of course populist politicians and fascists know how to push this narrative. See eg Musks speech to the AfD.

@cairobraga @bitboxer To be honest, it's all I can do to keep up with politics in my own country. So no, I haven't paid close attention to German politics. Sounds like I should, though.
