Scottish Greens MSP Maggie Chapman on LINO (Labour in Name Only):

'Socialist economic policies that have the wellbeing of people & planet at their heart would create sustainable jobs for workers. They would also open doors & generate opportunities for our communities to thrive. But we’ve seen the exact opposite from Labour. It’s never been more obvious that Labour has abandoned its working-class roots'!

The Greens are fishing for disaffected leftists

@andymoose @patrickhadfield

Let's hope so...

As an aside, it seems the UK Labour government is still trying to cut support to those who need it (per morning interview with Pat MacFadden). They're just squirming to find 'palatable' ways to achieve cuts.

All part of achieving an environment that demonises the vulnerable.

(And yes, I know that doesn't include all autistic people, it's just I have a family member who will probably never be in employment.)

In , Michael Caine's character Croker famously rebukes Arthur for using far too much gelignite: "you were only supposed to blow the bloody doors off!"

Morgan McSweeney's coup in the UK's so-called "" failed same way: it went way too far even for its own ugly, anti-democratic purposes.

's goal was to blow off 's leadership, and cripple the left. But he crippled the party. Now 's government is adrift in a storm, with a useless leader

You can advise the Labour Party to make a populist case for workers' rights on the basis they are highly popular with the electorate, but businesses are urging the PM & Chancellor to at least further water down the legislation (pointing no doubt to a recent FT editorial arguing the same)....

Will Labour listen to a majority of voters or the business sector representatives they meet regularly?

My guess is they'll be earning the hashtag (again)

@distinctdipole close. That terrible interview with the spokesperson this morning who basically said it was a March for free speech and he understood their concerns and would now be extra horrid to asylum seekers was an absolute disgrace. I’m horrified

@JimmyB I would never have accepted membership of in the first place. They are an integral part of the imperialist complex.

Herzog should have been arrested as soon as he trouched ground in the UK, and hog-tied like the v dangerous mass murderer he is.

But instead, 's govt invited him to tea.

Chatham House invited him too.

So on this occasion, in this context, I'm glad that they at least did a good intro.
