whipping up a small #alttext when you're posting an image or video isn't that hard. It's not a big deal, takes less than a minute, and for this little effort, you help a bunch of other people to read your post.

honestly, i can't think of a single good reason why you wouldn't just do it. or am i missing something here?

Nothing inside the #moth box last night but this lurker was on the sheet underneath.

1) A rather fresh and mint PEBBLE HOOK-TIP (first sighting in 2025). Common across the UK, one of the 'flatties' rather than 'fatties'. Flatties tend to be highly strung and don't pose well on fingers!

Overhead shot of Pebble Hook-tip moth on a paving slab. It is a flat moth, about 2cm wide. It is a narrow oval shape, but horizontal, not vertical. So the wing tips are at the extreme left and right of the picture. The top wing edge runs from wing tip to wing tip in a smooth convex arc. The wing tips at either end curve sharply down and back up underneath to form the appearance of a hook. Imagine the top wing edge from the middle to the wing tips left and right is like the sloping shoulders and arms, slightly outstretched, of someone carrying two imaginary heavy bags of shopping and the hooks are the hands that hold them.

Where the top edge is a smooth arc, the bottom wing edge forms a very shallow wavy W shape from wing tip to wing tip.

It is a sandy or pebble-brown moth with a dark brown horizontal line running right across the middle. Above the line, there is a small pebble eye on each wing. These are black edged with a blue-grey centre. In the wing tip corners there is a small blue arc shaped patch. . It is a very pretty moth.

Ich habe eine #Sehbehinderte (8% Visus) gefragt. Kein Problem. Sie hat sich einen Android-Editor mit Vergrößerungsfunktion installiert, schreibt dort den Alt-Text und fügt ihn mit copy/paste auf Mastodon ein.
Wo ein Wille ist . . .

I replied to this comment stating: You mean like they want to do to us?

The comic is, of course, downvoted, as are supportive comments. Those of the transphobes are upvoted.

Our local sign of spring. A colour photograph of a wild crocus flower bud. The light purple flower bud is centred in the frame and lit by sunlight. The stem and sepals (around the base of the bud) are ridiculously hairy. Short, abundant white ‘hairs’ are lit in the sunlight. The photo is taken right down at ground level. If you ever wonder how to spend a Sunday right:
bare feet, a river, and the one who makes you laugh even when nothing’s funny.
Today at the Rhine, we absolutely nailed it.

Rear view — A barefoot person standing at the very edge of an old stone platform by the Rhine river in Rüdesheim, wearing a simple black skirt and a matching black top. They lean slightly forward against a weathered metal railing, one hand shielding their eyes from the soft midday sun as they gaze thoughtfully across the wide, glistening river. Their tousled hair is pulled up into a playful, fluffy ponytail, and a delicate anklet encircles their left ankle, catching the light. Their bare feet are firmly grounded on the rough stone ... the left foot flat, while the right foot is raised gracefully onto its toes, creating a subtle, dynamic tension that mirrors the soft movement of the breeze. The horizon reveals lush green trees and a low, forested hill bathed in spring's fresh colors.

Tp-down view — A charming family scene captured from above: Two proud Canada geese swim gracefully across the sparkling, rippled waters of the Rhine, their dark heads and brown bodies sharply contrasted against the silvery-blue reflections of the sun. Right behind them, two tiny, downy goslings paddle eagerly, their fluffy yellow-green forms like little floating gems.
