"While the Freedom Flotilla, part of Sicily on 1 June, may see its arrival in Gaza delayed by its relief to several Sudanese migrants in the Mediterranean Sea, Israeli authorities and leaders are preparing for their arrival in Gaza by considering how to minimize the positive impact of this symbolic operation on the Palestinian people and their supporters. According to Israeli military sources quoted by the Jerusalem Post, the armed forces are contemplating a clear scenario: if the flotilla passengers refuse to turn around at the request of the IDF, a naval commando, Shayete 13, could be deployed to board the boat and take control to arrest passengers there, including Rima Hassan and Greta Thunberg.
"The aim would then be to forcibly transfer them to the Israeli port of Ashdod before expelling them from the territory, sending the militants back to their respective countries of origin. Behind this well-oiled military plan lies the desire to avoid at all costs the symbol of pro-Palestinian militants breaking the Israeli blockade that is starving the Palestinian population. The use of the elite forces of Shayet and 13 confirms the will of the Israeli ruling class to silence by force any voice that dares to defy the siege and genocide under way in Gaza, with the complicity of the imperialist states.
Shayet 13: a name that evokes state violence
"The possible use of Shayet 13 is not trivial. This Israeli naval commando is infamous for its role in the deadly boarding of the humanitarian fleet of the Mavi Marmara in 2010. At the time, Israeli soldiers killed nine Flotilla militants wishing to reach Gaza, including eight Turkish citizens and one American-Turkish, in international waters. A cynically condemned attack on the international scene and by the leaders of the imperialist States, without withdrawing their support for Israel's colonial and murderous policies.
"That Israel now plans to reuse the same unit to intercept the Madleen demonstrates the continuity of a warlike and repressive logic. It is not a police operation, but a demonstration of military force against civilians armed with food, medicine and political demands. The reflection of the heroism of the crew members on board the ship which unmasks all the cowardice and cynicism of #ColonialViolence.
"In the face of this threat of military aggression, defending the flotilla is defending the right to solidarity, it is to refuse the erasure of Gaza behind the barbed wires of a criminal blockade and the deafening media silence on the ongoing massacres. The courage of the Madleen passengers must be a lever to move forward in the construction of a powerful international solidarity movement, in which the workers’ movement has a central role to play, as the Fos-sur-Mer dockworkers have shown on Wednesday. This is the only way to stop the genocidal machine at work, supported by our leaders."

A #delegate from #MERC #Indonesia, a #MedicalRescue committee, says they received “two warnings” from the #Israeli army to evacuate Kamal Adwan Hospital in northern #Gaza, forcing the delegation to cease their #medical assistance operations.
Hossam Abu Safieh, the director of Kamal Adwan Hospital, said Israel conducted several strikes on Friday that hit the facility, one of the last functioning #health centres in the area.
"There was a series of air strikes on the northern and western sides of the #hospital, accompanied by intense and direct fire," he said, adding that four staff were killed and no #surgeons were left at the site.

Fellow #SaveOldGrowth forest defender, Sheena, made a short film. It includes the jingle dance circle with me & several other #environmental #landback #activists on the bridge between River & Landback resistance camps.
River & Landback camps were main strongholds at Fairy Creek blockade. River camp was the first resistance camp set up in 2020 & it ran for a year before final big raid. There are 2 very rough logging roads that lead up to untouched old growth forest tracts from these camps. River camp is also where people could go hike to see/visit with Grandmother & Grandfather cedars. After we were removed, industry started cutting more roads up into the untouched old growth tracts. Teal Jones logging company has since pulled out due to financial issues & everything is up in the air at this time. Temporary deferral was renewed this year for some tracts by this one particular area in the watershed. Still hoping for permanent protections as the elder trees are not included in this small deferral.
