@luxet @Tim_Eagon @chakatfirepaw It also begs the question of "What is a minor issue in the mythos?," even something as relatively minor as the fungi from Yuggoth Trying to protect a mining interest on Earth essentially just gives the party the knowledge and probably physical evidence of alien intelligence and its activity on Earth.
That's a pretty big deal, as would anything which gave concrete proof of cults with actual magical power. or a deep sea species which frequently desires to breed with humans...
It's hard to get away from the idea that mythos knowledge itself is destabilizing. And if you had it, unless you had a significant reason not to expose it, that's exactly what you would do.
This might make minor issues easier to deal with in a one-shot because you don't have to deal with the fallout afterwards. But the idea of a sustained narrative where this information is going around a lot is inherently a problem. Again, something that Delta Green helps address just by its setup.

My favorite part of running a #ttrpg is preparation. Reading source material, organizing my ideas into usable notes, gathering inspirational images and text and music, and finally the tactile joy of making props.
But once the prep is over and it's time to play? I kind of hate that part.
For example, I don't think anything that happens at the table will give me as much pleasure as making the handouts for my #deltagreen game
So.... I migrated server to dice.camp as I hear this is where the TTRPG folks lurk about :) I'm a welsh nerd currently living and working in Singapore, mostly I run #DeltaGreen also a little #CallofCthulhu sometimes. also a huge fan of #FreeLeague games #coriolis #symbaroum #forbiddenlands #vaesen. I play a few of the class based d20 systems, but not really my jam. #ttrpg #introduction

I was born in #1964 already as a baby #Boomer. Some say that was a great mistake.
In 1998 I started roleplaying (or was it roll-playing?) and was introduced to AD&D. My favorite system is #SavageWorlds, at least when I'm the GM. Systems I'm also into at the moment: #SLAIndustries #DeltaGreen #TheYellowKingRPG, #Traveller.
