This log cabin sits alone in the Valles Caldera in New Mexico — built as a set for The Missing (2003), directed by Ron Howard.
The film is gone, but the set remains, slowly weathering into the landscape like it was always meant to be there.

Remarkable. I've never heard this writer's name, but she was a major celebrity when her first memoir was published at age 19. It was translated into 30 languages. She brashly toyed with the public for years, and wrote frankly about bisexual desire ... in 1902! She wrote and starred in a pre-Hays Code film called Men Who Have Made Love to Me.
And yet, she's completely left out of American cultural history and feminism.

"The Heart of Lincoln" is one of 7,000 silent films listed by the Library of Congress as being lost forever. Now, the 1915 movie about Abraham Lincoln and Civil War life, has been found. NBC explains how film student Dan Martin found the 16-millimeter film while going through boxes during his summer internship at Lauro's Historic Films Archive in Greenport, New York. The film has now been cleaned and digitized so it will be preserved forever.

#TIL that you can still visit the location of the iconic final dual between Mortimer & El Indio in Leone's "For A Few Dollars More" - the scene was shot in the village of Los Albaricoques in Almeira, Spain & the stone circle still exists. The town seems to be getting a lot of mileage out of its place in movie history, as there's also a Lee van Cleef Street & Clint Eastwood Street. Apparently part of "Aqua Caliente" from the film also still stands.
